Salim, Akbar's son ascended the throne as Jahangir.

In 1611, he married Nur Jahan. Her real name was Mehrunnisa.

Mughal painting reached its climax during Jahangir's period. In 1608 Captain William Hawkins, a representative of English East India Company came to Jahangir's court. In 1615, Sir Thomas Roe, an ambassador of King James of England came to his court.

Tuzuk-I-Jahangiri, wrote by Jahangir.

He banned slaughter of animals on Sunday and Thursday.

Jahangir assassinated the Sikh Guru Arjun Dev

Jahangir's tomb is at Lahore

Ustad Mansur and Abdul Hassan were the two famous painters lived in the court of Jahangir. Jahangir himself was a painter.

He built Shalimaar and Nishant Garden in Srinagar.

His period is considered as the golden age of Mughal painting.
